***Dr. Faith C. Cook is a Clinical Psychologist who received her Doctorate from the University of Hartford and her Bachelors from the University of Georgia. She has years of both personal and professional experience dealing with complicated medical and psychological conditions, as well as working closely with primary medical providers in interdisciplinary settings. This gives her an advantage of being able to see things from the point of view of the person seeking treatment as well as the medical professionals involved in care. People of all backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, and sexual orientations are welcome to join in the opportunity to live well.
Dr. Cook lives with Type 1 Diabetes as well as other autoimmune and chronic illnesses. Additionally, she has the training to provide the more objective and professional prospective that you might need to learn to adjust to a new diagnosis, changes in your health, to cope with long-standing illness, or coping with the stages of life. She can be an ally in the process of living well.
When not in the office, she can be found hiking the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, cell-reception permitting. Her other interests are weight lifting, photography, and creative projects. She cherishes spending time with her husband, family and friends.
Dr. Cook has completed training and is officially certified by the American Diabetes Association as a Mental Health Provider for People with Diabetes, enabling her to treat anxiety, depression and burnout related to diagnosis and long-term management of diabetes, as well as anxiety regarding hyper and hypoglycemia that affects a person with diabetes ' ability to manage their health. Dr. Cook is also able to treat a wide range of other mental health conditions that may or may not be related to health status. By being certified, this makes her the only mental health provider in the region (including upstate South Carolina and Eastern Tennessee) to have this Diabetes Care training!
