Anna Clark, LCMHC Life is often full of unexpected twists, turns, and bumps that can leave us feeling uncertain about how to feel or move forward. Although it can seem dauting to take the steps to talk about these challenges, therapy can be an extremely rewarding tool to support validating your experiences and compassionately continuing that journey.
I believe that therapy involves understanding how our past impacts current feelings, behaviors, and patterns through a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship that supports positive change and healing. I am also a strong proponent of humor being an important part of the therapy and I enjoy having my dog, Benny, accompany me in sessions to provide an extra level of unspoken support and warmth.
I am a graduate of the NC Child Treatment Program for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and am basic trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, both of which are evidence-based practices for trauma. I also integrate other therapy modalities such as Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to help support my clients with their individual needs, pre-existing strengths and personal goals for therapy.
I am passionate about working with children of all ages, young adults, and families, no matter their sexual orientation, race, gender expression, or spiritual beliefs. We are all worthy of love and inherently possess the skills that we need to make positive and healthy change. It is always an honor to work alongside my clients as they make this journey within themselves. If you feel that we would be a good fit, I look forward to hearing from you!
