Chimene Mathis, BS , CEO/PRESIDENT is a 'home town girl' - having been born in Sylva & continuing to make her home here. She graduated from Smoky Mountain High School in 1992 & then obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, with a minor in Criminal Justice, from Western Carolina University, in 1996. She began working part time for Sylva Clinical-PSYCHOLOGY! shortly thereafter & then transferred into full time.
For the past 28 years, Chimene has developed a wide range of managerial & leadership skills that only enhanced her expertise for the role from that of Practice Manager to our Chief Executive Officer, in 2015, & now President. She continues to lead & decide on our practice operations in their entirety = from A to Z; which still includes completing all of the client billing & insurance filing that she has always conducted & completed. She will also continue to hire, contract, credential & explore & implement new & invigorating opportunities so that our practice is performing successfully to meet the ever changing mental health needs that are so important to YOU - the members of the communities we cherish & lovingly serve. While she may not be directly in the front office, you may see her in & about the office suite; always with humble & careful attention to the precious legacy left to be taken care of & carried out.
When she is not working, Chimene takes delight in giving of her time by volunteering at her church & helping others in need in ways that she values & that give her much joy. She & her husband, Chas, & their son, Colton, are avid sports fans. They enjoy their time together by cheering on their favorite football & baseball teams, the Clemson Tigers, or taking in the thrill of races whether it be at an Indy track or NASCAR. They also soak up the outdoors together, traveling, exploring our beautiful mountains, or a new beach, or hunting/fishing different game by being in nature of all kinds - water or land.
Chimene prides her work with our clients in remembering that, "The greatest good is what we do for one another."
Caring doesn't mean having all the answers; it is showing love, compassion & respect.
"You have always cared for me." PSALM 4:1
